State Lawmaker Introduces Bills To Combat Child Abuse

Representative Christina Hagan, a Republican from Alliance, has introduced two bills to fight back against child sexual abuse--including one that implements curriculum in schools-teaching children about sexual abuse prevention and resources they can use to get help.

"These kids may be experiencing things that they don't know or understand to be right or wrong-they probably internally feel it to be wrong but they have not known any better since these are supposed to be the people that love them and care for them and are looking out for them," said Hagan.

Hagan stresses that the content for these elementary and middle school classes would be age-appropriate.

The other bill would penalize sexual conduct between a student and a school employee who is not in a position of authority, such as a food service worker or custodian.
