Republican Gov. John Kasich raised more than $1.1 million in August – that’s 10 times the amount opponent Ed FitzGerald brought in.
Attorney General Mike DeWine raised about $456,000 last amount, about $100,000 more than his challenger, David Pepper.
State Sen. Nina Turner lagged behind Secretary of State Jon Husted last month, raising about $82,000 to Husted's $105,000. And State Rep. Connie Pillich was nearly even with Treasurer Josh Mandel, pulling in $231,000 to Mandel's $243,000.
The only Democrat to put together more money than an opponent for this reporting period this month was State Rep. John Patrick Carney. He raised $123,000, more than incumbent Auditor Dave Yost’s $87,000.
Still, all Republicans had more total cash on hand to spend in the final two months of the campaign season. GOP candidates also received hundreds of thousands of dollars in in-kind contributions from the state party, which handled some campaign administrative costs.
Less clear is what they’re all spending their money on. Candidates aren’t required to disclose the last few months of expenditures until just before the election.
