Plain Dealer Makes First Round of Staff Cuts

This past April, the Plain Dealer's corporate parent Advance Publications announced plans to reduce PD staff and delivery days due to what it said were economic challenges and a changing media landscape. The initial staffing cuts came Wednesday night as members of the advertising, marketing, pre-press, finance, information technology and building service departments were informed of their fate via phone. As much as a third of the news staff is also due to be cut, although there's been no announcement of when that may be.
