Ohio’s Senators are weighing in on President Trump’s U.S. Supreme Court pick

President Donald Trump tapped DC circuit court Judge Brett Kavanaugh Monday to fill the Supreme Court seat vacated by Anthony Kennedy. Republican Senator Rob Portman is enthusiastic about the choice, and optimistic about his confirmation.

“I think most Americans will be very impressed as they get to know him not just because of his intelligence and his qualifications and his experience as a judge but his character."

His fellow Senator Sherrod Brown is more circumspect—noting concerns about women’s and consumer rights in an emailed statement.  Brown plans to meet with Kavanaugh, but says he won’t support a Justice “who would take rights away from Ohioans.”
