Under Republican National Committee rules, Ohio must move its primary back to the middle of March to keep the state's winner take all status.
Democrats say if the date is moved to the first week in May, they will get additional delegates for their party's convention. A committee in the Republican dominated Ohio House has voted to set the date in March. The chair of that committee, Representative Tim Brown, says the Republican sponsor of that plan wanted the March date because he thought Ohioans were used to a March presidential primary.
Brown: "Delaying much past that would not be appropriate in his opinion."
But in Democratic Representative David Leland's opinion, there is no reason why majority Republicans can't change the date to benefit both political parties.
Leland: "We just need a little bit more bipartisan cooperation."
And he says he's still holding out hope he can get that as the bill goes through the legislative process.
