Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor is giving her full support for the governor's push to expand the Medicaid program.
Ohio’s lieutenant governor has been an outspoken critic of Obamacare in the past. But when it comes to expanding the number of people eligible for Medicaid, Mary Taylor says she’s for it.
TAYLOR: "Well, as you know, the governor has been very vocal. I believe (he) had a rally here in Columbus yesterday. From the governor's perspective, he's going to push on and ultimately get this done for Ohioans, the working poor in Ohio. And I support the governor."
Kasich says Obamacare and the Medicaid expansion are two entirely different things. He says the Medicaid expansion allows federal dollars for an existing program to come back to Ohio taxpayers. The state estimates that expanding Medicaid eligibility requirements will allow an additional 275,000 Ohioans to receive health insurance through the program.
