Ohio House Speaker Says, If His Members Need To Come Back Next Week, They Will

House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger Speaks To Reporters After Budget Vote

State lawmakers who have vacations scheduled for the week of the Fourth of July might be putting those plans on hold. House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger says he wants members of his chamber to be prepared to come back into session next week if Gov. John Kasich vetoes key parts of the budget bill.“I can tell you with 59 votes on the board today for the conference committee and several others that are passionate about certain areas of the budget, I think we would have the votes to do what we need to do.”Senate President Larry Obhof says that chamber might come back next week too. It all depends on what Kasich does, especially if he vetoes the part of the budget that would freeze Medicaid expansion in 2018. Kasich isn’t saying what he will do but he has always fought hard to keep Medicaid expansion intact. Copyright 2017 The Statehouse News Bureau. To see more, visit The Statehouse News Bureau.
