An Ohio inmate who argued he was too obese to be executed has died at a prison medical center. Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles reports.

Back in December, Governor Kasich commuted the sentence of former death row inmate Ronald Post to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Post, a 480 pound inmate, had argued he was too obese to be put to death with a lethal injection.

Ultimately, his death sentence was put aside because of questions about his legal representation, not his body weight. Now, just seven months after that ruling, Post has died at a prison medical center in Columbus.

The cause of his death is not known.

Post was convicted in the 1983 murder of Helen Vantz, an Elyria hotel clerk.
