MidTown Makes Progress Toward Revitalization

Highlights from its achievements of the past year included updates on the state-of-the-art Third District Police Station, set to be build on Chester Avenue between E40th and E55th streets.

Keynote speaker Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald also offered his support in requesting ODOT not close ramps to the innerbelt during its construction and rebuilding of that highway. FitzGerald said that that ensuring the Innerbelt Trench design is right is critical to maintaining jobs and businesses in MidTown and developing the Cleveland Health-Tech Corridor.

MidTown also received a $75,000 award to study the barren intersection on the corner of E. 55th and Euclid in order to restore the once vibrant intersection back into a hub of neighborhood activity. MidTown plans to determine how they can make the intersection formerly called Penn Square more pedestrian friendly, and possibly add bike lanes to E. 55th.
