Health Minister James Reilly got a tour of the Global Center for Health Innovation with Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald.

Reilly is pushing for universal healthcare in Ireland, and said both his country and the U.S. could improve their systems by collecting more data.

"We have specialists sometimes doing work that those with less specialist education could be doing, we have doctors doing work that nurses could be doing, nurses doing work that healthcare assistants and allied healthcare professionals could be doing," Reilly said. "And technology will allow -- support all that and make it more cost effective for the health service, better outcomes for the citizen."

Reilly also met with Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson -- and he wasn't the only Irish official in the United States for the holiday. Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny visited President Obama on Friday, and according to the Boston Globe was scheduled to attend a breakfast in Boston on Sunday.
