A new Quinnipiac Poll shows Democratic candidate for governor Ed FitzGerald is gaining support in Ohio. But as Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles reports, this poll also has some good news for Republican Gov. John Kasich, too.
Quinnipiac University poll director Peter Brown says Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald now trails Gov. John Kasich by just five points.
"The last time Quinnipiac surveyed back in November, it was a seven-point lead," Brown said.
Kasich’s approval rating now stands at 51 percent -- down a point from November. But Brown says one bad stat about FitzGerald could be a positive sign for Kasich.
"Seven in 10 voters don’t know enough about Mr. FitzGerald to have an opinion of him," Brown said.
And Brown says there’s another factor to consider. Kasich’s campaign war chest is about five times bigger than FitzGerald’s. Brown says that means Kasich will have more money to get his message out to voters.
