First Republican Presidential Candidate of 2016 in Cleveland

Mark Everson has not held public office but he did serve in the Reagan and George W Bush administrations.  And he says has something to offer both conservatives and liberals. Everson was head of the IRS under Bush and part of his six point plan for America is to institute a sales tax for the poor & middle class while making the wealthy pay an income tax.

He wants to bring back a military draft so that all Americans -rich or poor- have “skin in the game” when troops are deployed.  And the former deputy commissioner of what was once the Immigration and Naturalization Service wants to allow amnesty to illegal aliens now in the country.

But Everson’s main topic today was cracking down on large financial institutions. He says big banks are breaking the law and getting away with it because Attorney General Eric Holder does little more than issue fines.

EVERSON “Opting for deferred prosecutions Holder has left alone the executives in charge.  The results has been entirely predictable: the banks run the light, pay the ticket, and drive on.”

Everson argues a few powerful banks have made the country’s economy weaker and less stable.  He says the way to stop corrupt practices is to send executives to jail.

Mark Everson has a long road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but he promises that if he gets there, he will serve just one term.
