The Ohio Treasurer’s Office wants to know if there was any other alleged wrongdoing while Amer Ahmad was working for the state.

Ahmad is a former Deputy Treasurer who faces several charges including conspiracy, bribery and money laundering - all part of an alleged kickback scheme.

Ahmad served as deputy while Democratic Treasurer Kevin Boyce was in office. Now the current treasurer… Republican Josh Mandel… is launching his own investigation.

“So our office is now in the process of doing a top-bottom review of everything of which Amer Ahmad would have been involved,” Mandel said.

The goal, he said, is to “determine if there was any other fraud in the office during the Boyce administration and also to what extent there would’ve been loss of tax dollars.  So we’re taking that very seriously.”

Mandel said he become aware of a federal investigation involving Ahmad around the time he took office in January of 2011.
