Sunday night, millions of America will settle in front of TV sets for the start of Super Bowl XLIII. For many restauranteurs though, the game is secondary to keeping their eateries packed until the final gun.ideastream®'s Rick Jackson reports.

David Mooney called the first three weeks of January at ex-Cleveland Brown Bob Golic’s downtown sports bar—difficult —partly seasonal; partly because of the economy.
But the Super Bowl means instant income, with estimates of 20% of Americans watching the game out in public.... a bonanza for General Managers like David; who go all out to get fans spending for those 4 or 5 hours Sunday evening.
“It’ll be packed. Bob is planning on being here.... we’re going to be doing raffles, giving away autographed shirts.”
John Bordas manages Crystal Sports in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood.
His bar also plans a party --- but he says money is so tight they can’t order all the snacks they want.

“The food will probably be like wings, and just appetizers, maybe we’ll have cold cut sandwiches. We might just go with what we got left in the kitchen this week.”
The SuperbowlMonday website says Americans will devour about 20 million pounds of potato and tortilla chips Sunday, eight million pounds of avocados, and who knows how much pop and beer…
Mooney says some Cleveland area restaurants expect a boost with an arch rival in the big game.
“I think that we’ll have a bigger crowd; `because’ it’s Pittsburgh.”
Also one of `many things’ John Bordas is hoping.
“..That we’re packed, and we run out of food… and you know everybody had a good time. And Pittsburgh loses...”
As a Steel City native, I’ll wish him three ...out of four.
