Proof Of Insurance Can Now Be Shown Electronically

The Ohio Department of Public Safety's Lindsey Borror says the agency is responding to consumer demand by allowing Ohioans to use an online app to show proof of insurance on their electronic devices.

Borror: "Sometimes, you know, when you have to carry around a piece of paper, people can lose it. You know, you can place it in the glove compartment. So this way, everybody is carrying their cell phones and tablets nowadays so we are hoping this will be easier for motorists if they just have to worry about that if it is on the cell phone or tablet."

The agency is hoping to make another improvement soon that would allow Ohioans to pay with a credit card at the local bureau of motor vehicles.

A bill that would allow that is included in the state transportation budget as it goes through the legislative process.
