The board decided unanimously Thursday to terminate the contract of Superintendent Randy Stepp, after a review by State Auditor Dave Yost concluded Stepp misused district funds.

Stepp made eight separate charges over eight years that didn’t appear to be business expenses, according to a press release from Yost.

The questionable charges total about 41 hundred dollars, including more than 23-hundred dollars to buy various restaurant and specialty food gift cards, along with what have been deemed excessive travel reimbursements.

Yost’s office is now waiting for more information from the U-S Department of Education regarding a payment for more than 172-thousand dollars was made towards Stepp’s student loan balances.

Stepp has until 1 P-M on Monday afternoon to say if he plans to dispute the decision.

For StateImpact Ohio, I’m Amy Hansen.
