Alex Spirikaitis of Solon has not been seen for nearly two weeks, after the Ohio Division of Financial Institutions shut down the Taupa Lithuanian Credit Union.

A federal warrant was then issued for his arrest, on embezzlement charges. The credit union’s financial assets exceeded $23 million.

Vickie Anderson of the Cleveland FBI office says they’ve a new image showing Spirikaitis without his goatee. She says he may have shaved it off to thwart detection.

“We have no reason to believe that he has left the United States," says Anderson. "We definitely have him out in the public’s view, around our Cleveland area and it has been posted on our FBI national site.”

Shortly after Spirikaitis fled, he appeared for a while in the Northeast Ohio Missing Persons Database.

Anderson says a credit union employee – unfamiliar with the CEO’s legal troubles – reported his disappearance. He has since been removed from the database.
