Human Brain Cells, Under the Microscope

ideastream's Anne Glausser spoke to Brie Zeltner about her article this week in the health section of the Plain Dealer.

Many scientists rely on animal models to learn about disease and test out new drugs. But proving a therapy works in, say, mice is a far cry from proving it will work in humans.

Now a group of researchers has found a way to improve the scientific test kitchen, if you will.

They've engineered special human cells to help study brain diseases, like Parkinson's and Huntington's.

That's the topic of today's Tuesday Check Up.
