Funeral Held for Stabbing Victim

Hundreds of mourners packed an east side church to remember Demesha Sharp. The 15-year-old was stabbed to death October 19 during a fight in North Collinwood. Three generations of women in one family allegedly held back witnesses while Sharp was attacked.

At her funeral, many wore t-shirts featuring photos of Sharp. It was standing room only in the aisles.

Outside the Lee Memorial AME Church, Reverend Adam Broach remembered teaching Demesha at vacation bible school.

Adam Broach: She was a very beautiful young lady who loved God with all her heart. She attended church where we are currently. She was a special young lady. Such a sad day.

Reverend Dr. Jack Sullivan Jr. came to the funeral because he was outraged by the violence. He thinks people all over the region are growing tired of the senselessness.

Jack Sullivan Jr.: I'm sensing a collective sense of outrage and disappointment that I think is fueling a new kind of movement from people.

With Demesha Sharp's death among the latest in a string of violent incidents in Cleveland, calls for change are growing louder.
