The past president of the Ohio Black Republicans Association, Brenda Mack, has been named in a news release as the lieutenant governor candidate to run with Cincinnati-area Tea Party activist Ted Stevenot. She’s also been named in government documents as owing nearly $60,000 in unpaid taxes and penalties.
Mack also filed for bankruptcy in 2008. Those documents show she owed about $104,000 to creditors, including about $6,000 in unpaid wages to seven employees of a Youngstown cleaning company she owned from 1997 to 2007.
Just last month, Democratic State Sen. Eric Kearney quit gubernatorial candidate Ed FitzGerald’s ticket because of the backlash from revelations that Kearney, his wife and his newspaper company owed nearly $1 million in unpaid state and federal taxes and penalties.
