The trial of Canton businessman Ben Suarez is into its third week. It centers around campaign contributions he allegedly orchestrated through his employees. Suarez could get up to 12 years in prison if convicted. The federal case has drawn considerable interest because it raises questions about the influence the donations garnered for Suarez from U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci and Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel. As the prosecution continues to lay out its side of the case, ideastream editor David Molpus talked with reporter Mark Urycki, who is covering the trial.
