Bay Village Holds Rally For Victim Of ALS "Ice Bucket Challenge" Prank

A video emerged on social media this week, showing the youth stripped to his underwear, preparing to undergo what he thought was the ALS “ice bucket challenge”.

But the next moment, the special-needs student is doused by several gallons of feces, urine, and spit.

Laura Hoffman is with Autism Speaks in Northeast Ohio. She says a Bay Village graduate has organized the rally and proceeds will be split between her organization and the ALS Association.

“I mean, unfortunately these types of situations happen all of the time and for “Autism Speaks” we just want to be out there and supportive, and do whatever we can," says Hoffman. "It sounds just like the community is coming together, and a few words will be said from the school point of view, and we will give a few remarks on anti-bullying and autism awareness, and then we’ll all head into the game.”

Meanwhile, Bay Village police are investigating the incident. An officer says they won’t know the specific charges until the investigation is complete and the case is handed over to a prosecutor.
