The Ohio State Auditor has suggested to all boards of large school districts that they form committees to review financial documents and make sure they are accurate before they're subject to auditing. The panel created by the Cleveland board will be chosen from the community at large, and will also be responsible for reviewing audit results and making sure recommendations are properly followed up.
Cleveland School's CEO Eugene Sanders said he looks forward to the transparency such a committee could provide, but that he's concerned it's operations might create to many what he called "entanglements" for his cabinet officers. He asked the Board to take steps to prevent too much red tape. The five members of the new committee will be appointed by the School Board and the Mayor. Lisa Ann Pinkerton, 90.3.
