The president of Cuyahoga County Council, C. Ellen Connally, says she won't run for reelection this November.

Connally says she’ll serve out the rest of her term this year before stepping aside.

“I’ve been thinking about it over the holidays, and when you run for office, it’s very taxing,” she said. “And of course I have another year, and I want to concentrate on finishing the things that I started with the county council.”

Connally says she’ll continue serving on the boards of the Ohio Historical Society and other organizations, as well as giving lectures on the Warren Commission.

Connally had been mentioned as a possible running mate for Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune, who says he plans to run for governor. But Connally now says she’s ruled out that idea.
