This past April, the Plain Dealer’s corporate parent Advance Publications announced plans to reduce PD staff and delivery days due to what it said were economic challenges and a changing media landscape. The initial staffing cuts came Wednesday night as members of the advertising, marketing, pre-press, finance, information technology and building service departments were informed of their fate via phone. As much as a third of the news staff is also due to be cut, although there’s been no announcement of when that may be.
