Ohio State University's Board of Trustees has warned university president Gordon Gee about making disparaging comments in the future. Gee came under fire after his remarks before the University's Athletic Council about Catholics and other college conferences were made public. From member station WOSU in Columbus, Tom Borgerding reports.

Board Chair Robert Schottenstein tells Gee “future instances” could be grounds for dismissal.

Gee came under fire after his remarks before the University’s Athletic Council about Catholics and other college conferences were made public.

A so-called “remediation plan” for Gee is outlined in a three-page memo from Schottenstein and board member Alex Shumate.

It also calls for personal apologies, a review of Gee’s personal communications and speechwriting, and a more targeted selection of speaking engagements. The memo says any future instances of disparaging remarks by Gee could bring more “punitive” action, including dismissal
