Ohio's Treasurer, Josh Mandel, has highlighted his military service in recent campaigns for office. But if the Republican Mandel runs for re-election as expected, he might find himself running against a Democratic veteran.

State Representative Connie Pillich is throwing her hat in the ring and says Ohioans want someone who will fight for them.

Pillich: “They want and deserve a treasurer that is going to be committed to the job he was elected to do, to protect their tax dollars and make sure they are used wisely and who is going to put the needs of Ohio first.”

Pillich says she has a strong background in public office, eight years of military service, and feels compelled to run for the treasurer’s office.

Ohio Republican Party Chairman-elect Matt Borges says Treasurer Josh Mandel has been a good steward of Ohio’s tax dollars.

Borges says Pillich, however, joined her fellow Democrats in pursuing disastrous fiscal policies that led to an $8 billion deficit.
