Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says the DNA results show Ariel Castro is indeed the father of the six-year-old girl, who kidnap victim Amanda Berry says is her daughter.

And DeWine says while the DNA didn’t initially connect Castro with any other unsolved crimes in the state’s database, further testing is being done on it right now.

"So what we are looking to see is, whether Castro matches any other crime. We were not able to link him up to any other crime in Ohio. Now we are waiting for the FBI to run this and I think they will rather shortly and then we will know whether Castro matches up with any other crime nationwide."

DeWine says he suspects Castro could be charged with more crime in the future. And DeWine says it’s possible Castro could face the death penalty….even if he’s not eventually charged with murder.

"You have another issue of kidnapping which is one of the ways you could end up with the death penalty. Kidnapping in Ohio is not only the taking but it’s the continuing to hold a person. So in this case, one could argue that he continued to hold them for ten years. That could qualify in these circumstances to elicit the death penalty."

DeWine says the kidnapping crimes in Cleveland were so heinous that they could qualify for death penalty specifications.
