Another potential Democratic candidate is dropping off the list to run for Governor in 2013. Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles has details.

Former Democratic Congresswoman Betty Sutton has been widely mentioned as a possible candidate to run against Republican Governor John Kasich next fall.  But the Ohio Democratic Party confirms Sutton has decided not to run for that office after all.

Fitzgerald: “Probably the more people that decline the race, the better for me.”

That’s Cuyahoga County Executive Ed Fitzgerald.  It’s looking more likely that he will be the party’s nominee for Governor next year.  In a written statement, Fitzgerald says Sutton will be a great asset to whoever the Democratic nominee for governor is next year.

Former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray, who is now working as the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington D. C. is thought to be a possible contender next year if he isn’t confirmed for the federal job by the U.S. Senate.  Right now, it appears his confirmation will be a fight as many Republicans don’t like the way that bureau is structured.
