T.J. Lane’s Attorneys in Negotiations Over Possible Plea Deal

TweetAttorneys for Chardon High School shooting defendant T.J. Lane are in negotiations with prosecutors over a possible plea deal, multiple news outlets reported on Friday.
If Lane makes a guilty plea, he could do so as soon as Feb. 26, defense attorney Ian Friedman told the Associated Press.
In an interview with the Plain Dealer, Friedman declined to say more until Lane completes a court-ordered evaluation to determine whether he is competent to stand trial.
Lane is accused of opening fire in the Chardon High School cafeteria last year, killing three and wounding three others. He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
His trial had already been delayed after prosecutors and defense attorneys asked for more time to review a large amount of new evidence. Attorneys had planned to meet Feb. 26 to set a new trial date.
