Tens of thousands of unemployed Ohioans are continuing to receive overpayments in their monthly government benefit checks. That’s the word from officials at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Spokesman Ben Johnson says the number of overpayments last year was smaller than in the two previous years, but still, there are many cases. Here is Johnson being interviewed about the latest numbers by Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen.
Johnson stresses that officials there have been cutting down the number of people receiving overpayments in their unemployment compensation checks. In the year 2010, he says, there were 150,000 overpayments, but last year, the number was trimmed to 110,000.
