Fewer Road Deaths Reported This Holiday Weekend

Download MP3State troopers are feeling thankful after seeing preliminary numbers from Ohio’s roads this weekend. Eleven people were killed during the Thanksgiving weekend, which marks the fourth year in a row that traffic deaths dropped over the late November holiday. Lt. Ann Ralston is with the Ohio Highway Patrol and she spoke with Ohio Public Radio’s Karen Kasler.
The first deaths of the weekend happened early on Wednesday, when four people were thrown from their car in a single-vehicle crash in Warren County. Alcohol is suspected. Ralston says Thanksgiving is typically one of the most dangerous holidays of the year because of the increased traffic from drivers traveling to dinners, parties and long-distance gatherings.
