Number of Deer-Car Crashes Drops for Third Straight Year

Download MP3There’s a bit of good news on Ohio’s highways. Public safety officials report that last year, the number collisions involving deer and motor vehicles dropped by another 2.2 percent. Mitch Wilson is with the Ohio Insurance Institute. He tells Ohio Public Radio’s Bill Cohen that the latest number is part of a short-term trend.
While the number of crashes involving deer and motor vehicles on Ohio highways dropped last year for the third straight year, the number of human fatalities was up. Seven people died last year in those crashes—an increase from the four deaths that were reported both in 2010 and in 2009.
