It’s not hard to pick out Clarence Mingo in a room filled with devoted Ohio Republicans at the convention in Tampa. He’s the only one of them who is black. WKSU’s M.L Schultze talked with Mingo outside one of the breakfasts this week about his goals.

Clarence Mingo became Franklin County’s auditor in 2009. That makes a rarity-a countywide elected official in Ohio who is African American. He’s even more of a rarity this week in Tampa. But he says his being an Ohio delegate to the Republic National Convention and being black makes sense when you consider the issues.

That’s Clarence Mingo, who is attending his first Republican presidential convention
