It doesn’t happen often, but Governor John Kasich is frustrated at his fellow Republicans in the legislature. For two reasons: First, GOP state representatives have voted for 30 million extra state dollars for nursing homes. And second, the Republican lawmakers are leaving the door open to spending part of a growing budget surplus on schools and cities later this year. The governor begins his critique with a laugh. If the final version of a budget adjustment bill that legislators are working on has new spending the governor opposes, Kasich has the power to block it with a veto.
