Just a month ago, safety forces in the Northeast Ohio community of Chardon were dealing with a horrific school shooting that claimed the life of three teens and left another injured. On Wednesday, Ohio lawmakers honored those first responders.

Republican State Senator John Eklund honored them on the floor of the Ohio Senate but he said there was no need to offer a resolution.

Eklund: “These men and women have already resolved, as have the communities that they protect so ably, the most important thing and the thing that no document, however grand it might be, would be incapable of resolving as they have and that is while we shall remember the events of 27 of February 2012, those events will not, and we will not let them, define us.”

The first responders were also honored by the Ohio House and Ohio Governor John Kasich.
