Cleveland's MidTown Tech Park is still under construction - parts of it doesn't even have floors laid down yet - but as Ida Lieszkovszky reports, Mayor Frank Jackson and local officials are already touting its economic success.

MidTown Tech Park is on Euclid Avenue, right down the street from the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. Mayor Jackson says for this project, location is everything.

“This is an ideal project in this spot at this time.”

Jackson hopes the proximity of the Clinic,UH, Case Western Reserve University and the rest of what is becoming known as the “health corridor” will lure new health companies to the tech park. Tracy Nichols heads Cleveland’s Economic Development Department. She calls this a post-incubator space.

“We have 7 incubators that are filled to capacity and we need spaces as these companies grow so that they can stay in the city of Cleveland.”

Nichols says they expect at least ten companies to move in and create a minimum of 150 jobs in the short term, doubling the number of jobs over the next few years. The first company to move in will be Jumpstart this weekend.
