Jobless Neighbors

Posted: Monday, February 1, 2010

When professionals and other high-income workers become unemployed they are less likely than others to talk about it with neighbors but some residents of Montville Township are bucking that trend. Freelance reporter Candace Goforth DeSantis has the latest in our Help Wanted coverage with this story from Trails End Drive.

Last week, a Washington, DC think tank issued a report saying poverty in the suburbs has been growing in recent years at almost five times the rate in cities, and the greatest increase occurred in Midwestern metro areas. Even upper-middle-class communities in places like Medina County’s Montville Township are straining under this economy. But one neighborhood has found a way to ease the burden. Freelance reporter Candace Goforth DeSantis picks up the story on Trails End Drive as part of “Help Wanted” coverage, a collaboration with the Plain Dealer.
