Governor Ted Strickland opened the Ohio State Fair yesterday with some advice for Ohioans who are financially strapped by the recession ---- Use the fair as a staycation.
STRICKLAND: We want people who may in the past traveled to distant places, costly places, to decide to spend their family vacation right here at the great Ohio State Fair. We promise them a good time, great entertainment, wonderful exhibits, the greatest livestock exhibit anywhere in America.
With the economy sinking LAST summer, the fair broke its old attendance record for Saturdays. THIS year’s fair --- the 156th --- is set to run for 12 days at the state fairgrounds in Columbus.
