Among those looking for help in Cleveland is Angie Jogan, an out-of-work young mother of three who depends on free meals provided by the Cleveland Food Bank through St. Augustine's Catholic Church.
Angie Jogan:" It's really really hard. When you've got kids and they're that little like that and they depend on you, you're not sure where to turn."
Ann Goodman heads the Cleveland Foodbank. She says her organization distributed $24 million worth the food this year. The demand has grown by 31 percent since 2007 - the biggest increase in thirty years.
The foodbank gets federal and state funds, but is mostly dependent on donations. Over half of that money, Goodman says, comes in the last six weeks of the year.
Ann Goodman: "We're holding our breath. People ask how the fundraising is going, and I say we're holding our breath and opening envelopes."
St. Augustine's will serve 10,000 Thanksgiving dinners this week.
