Cleveland and Cincinnati are out, butColumbus is still in, after Amazon announced the 20 finalists in its search for a home for its second headquarters.

Columbus offered property-tax abatements, income-tax refunds and a transportation plan in its application. Mayor Andrew Ginther says the city will continue to "compete hard" for the business, Governor John Kasich said the state will see what it can do to help Columbus land the final bid.

Aaron Renn, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, said the ability to grow and sustain a workforce of 50,000 will be a big factor in Amazon's ultimate choice.

"Columbus obviously with Ohio State University has a great talent pipeline there," he said.

Renn said the affordability of Columbus works to its advantage while its relatively smaller size may hold it back.
