Circuit City Shutters Most of Its Northeast Ohio Stores

Garfield Heights is losing its store in the City View Shopping Center. Mayor Thomas Longo says this was a shoe waiting to drop.

LONGO: We knew something was going to happen, because it's been no mystery that Circuit City has had some financial problems. But, it's probably 20 to 25,000 dollars in income tax. And then it creates a hole at the shopping center that has to be filled. So, that's what we're faced with.

The city is also faced with a lawsuit from the Environmental Protection Agency for violating pollution laws at the City View Center. Longo says any plans for putting in a replacement store will have to wait until the suit is settled. This is the fourth major store City View has lost in the past year.
