Law enforcement officials throughout Ohio are benefiting from new simulators to help them face dangerous situations. Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles reports.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says his office has purchased new computer-generated simulators that police agencies can use to practice their responses to dangerous situations they encounter every day on the job.

DEWINE: "This is in real time, split second decisions. This is not easy."

This simulator is programmed to provide police officers with a routine road stop where the suspect becomes combative.

In this case, the suspect is tasered and arrested. In other simulated situations, the officer might have to use deadly force. DeWine says all police agencies throughout the state will get a chance to use the new simulators that are being paid for with tax money from Ohio’s new casinos.
