One lawmaker is finding new allies in her fight to get rid of the death penalty.

Democratic Representative Nickie Antonio of Lakewood is, again, introducing a bill to abolish the death penalty in Ohio.

Now she has support from Republican Representative Niraj Antani of Miamisburg who says capital punishment is too expensive, makes government too powerful and goes against his pro-life values.

"As someone who is pro-life who's in a party of pro-life individuals from conception through natural death-I believe that-just the chance that an innocent individual could be put to death is reason enough to repeal it," says Antani.

Death penalty supporters say executions are still useful to punish murderers and bargain for plea deals.
