17 year Old, UH Doctors, Beat Flesh-Eating Disease

Brie Zeltner of the Plain Dealer authored the article and spoke with ideastream's Rick Jackson, relating the story of 17 year old Kendall Berryhill of Aurora - who contracted the deadly disease.

-- There are only a few hundred cases a year reported nationally, and we really don't know why it attacks who it attacks. but doctors at UH Rainbow were able to quickly treat and isolate the infected area.
While up to 40% of people who contract Flesh Eating disease may die and virtually all are left scared, the quick response saved Berryhill from all but the smallest scar on her leg. Zeltner offers detail and advice for similar situations, as reported to her by doctors she spoke with for the newspaper's story.
