The Cuyahoga County Foreclosure Prevention Program

The Cuyahoga County Foreclosure Prevention Program was created by the County Commissioners and County Treasuerer Jim Rokakis in the spring of 2006 to assist residents of Cuyahoga County who were having trouble with (or questions about) their home loans. Their “Don’t Borrow Trouble” public education campaign connects borrowers in distress with a local non-profit counseling agency through the united Way’s First Call for Help line 2-1-1.

What is 2-1-1?
2-1-1 is a phone number that connects people with important community services. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) assigned 2-1-1 nationwide as the phone number to dial for help with health and human services. There are nearly 200 active 2-1-1 systems covering all or part of 40 states, plus Washington, DC and Puerto Rico.

When you call 2-1-1, you are connected to an information and referral provider in your area, if service is available. Our 2-1-1 program serves Cuyahoga, Geauga and Medina Counties and is a partnership of United Way of Greater Cleveland, United Way Services of Geauga County and United Way of Medina County. 2-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, every day in these counties.

If you need to locate a 2-1-1 service in another area, visit www.2-1-1.org for assistance.
