2008 Cleveland Botanical Garden WinterShow
Now through January 4, 2009
If you love the holidays as they were meant to be, the 2008 Cleveland Botanical Garden WinterShow is for you! Twinkling lights, magical decorations and displays, and other nostalgic surprises await. You’ll also see dozens of fanciful gingerbread creations by skilled local bakers throughout the building. The Garden’s gingerbread competition is the area’s biggest and best display of gingerbread houses in our area. At the Garden Store, you will find seasonal decorations and stationery items, charming home accessories, an extensive book department, apparel, and unique, locally-designed jewelry Store. No WinterShow visit is complete without stopping to enjoy lunch or a few holiday cookies at the on-site Garden Cafe. In addition to such staples as soup, chili, salads and hearty sandwiches, you’ll be tempted by seasonal treats such as hot chocolate, fresh local apple cider with cinnamon sticks, warm roasted nuts and even holiday pies! Apollo’s Fire 2008-2009 Concert Season
Taking its name from the classical god of music and the sun, Apollo’s Fire is dedicated to the performance of 17th- and 18th-century music on the period instruments for which it was written. Music Director Jeannette Sorrell gathers a select pool of dynamic and creative early-music artists from throughout North America and Europe. The ensemble has been praised internationally for stylistic freshness and buoyancy, animated spontaneity, technical excellence, and for the creativity of Sorrell’s programming.
