Scientists want to know how a mother's weight can affect a child's risk for being obese.

Many factors contribute to childhood obesity, but research is now showing that a mother can be increasing the odds that their children are obese. A woman’s weight before and during pregnancy has been linked to a child’s risk of being overweight or obese. Now, scientists are trying to figure out what it is in the body that causes this.
