Sara Shookman is an Emmy-award winning television journalist co-anchoring WKYC's 6 and 11 p.m. newscast with Russ Mitchell. She joined the Channel 3 News team in 2012.

Sara's become one of Channel 3's go-to storytellers, covering local, national and even international news. She was the only local reporter to cover the 2014 Winter Olympic Games live from Sochi, Russia.

Her reporting on Ariel Castro in the moments after the he was arrested helped WKYC win the 2013 Emmy Award for Best Newscast. She was part of the Channel 3 team that brought home that award again in 2014. In January 2014, Cleveland Magazine named Sara one of the city's most interesting people.

Sara grew up in Akron. She's a graduate of Manchester High School. She first worked, at WKYC, as an intern during her college years at Ohio University. She graduated summa cum laude from the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism.
