BioMedTech: STEM - Clinical Trials for Youth and Teens

Time Slot: 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Dr. Eileen Seeholzer will showcase a current clinical trial, the IMPACT Study, that helps children make effective diet and lifestyle changes to improve health, wellness and quality of life.
Dr. Seeholzer is the Director of the Obesity and Weight Management Clinic, MetroHealth Medical Center, and an Assistant Professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

This three-part series engages students (Grades 7-12) in conversations with medical professionals who will explain the science behind clinical trials and how they improve health and wellness, highlighting local clinical trials studying diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. Local medical researchers and experts from top medical institutions (Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth Medical Center, University Hospitals at Case Medical Center, and Louis Stokes VA Medical Center) will describe how their research directly impacts patient health in the community. A Science Education Partnership Award from the National Institutes of Health funds the BMT: STEM distance learning programs.
